Learning and growing are an integral part of life here at First Presbyterian Church.  We have something for everyone. These studies are open to the community.  If you wish to join us, please contact the church office.

Wednesday mornings a group of women comes together to discuss books and the topics they inspire.

Saturday at 10 a.m. is our traditional Bible study lead by Sandy Martin, whose unique sense of humor sets the atmosphere for this group.

Pastor Karen is leading an ongoing online study.  Each week there will be a 5-10 minute video from the Bible Project followed by an opportunity to respond and discuss  the video in an online format.  If you are interested, please let Pastor Karen know.  She will need your name and email address.  It can be joined at any point.

The Bible Project is a non-profit animation studio that produces short-form, fully animated videos to make the biblical story accessible to everyone, everywhere. They create videos, podcasts, and study guides that explore the Bible’s unified story.

Nursery care is provided for ages 0-4 during worship services and special services like Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

Children grades K-4 are welcome to join special programming after the introductory part of worship.

Periodically throughout the school year, First Presbyterian offers a free Children's program on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m.  Dinner is provided and the children have fun with games, stories and crafts in a safe environment.

Many of the young people in our church have very busy lives.  Our congregation involves them in leadership in the regular life of the church. They serve as liturgists, soloists, on decision-making bodies, and share their talents in many ways.

There are many opportunities to put your hands to work at First Presbyterian Church.  Some are listed below.  These activities are open to the community.  If you wish to join us, please contact the church office.

Volunteer to tutor children once a week at our after school program, Evolving Minds, Wednesdays from 5-6.  The program is organized by a teacher from Waterville Elementary, and provides free tutoring to children in the community.  Tutors build life-changing relationships with their students.  You can call the church office for more information. (Note: During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are doing our tutoring online via Zoom.)

The Anthony Wayne Community Food Ministry is a partnership between three area churches that feeds the hungry in the surrounding areas.  The Pantry opens at 4 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month and is housed at the Waterville Community Church on Dutch Road.  Volunteers help families register and "shop" in an environment that is designed to preserve the worth and dignity of all.

Each Summer First Presbyterian Church has adopted an organization and held a service week for them.  This year we are trying out a Saturday schedule and focusing on the environment.

Each Summer First Presbyterian Church hosts an Art Camp for children grades k-4.  We are always looking for artists and volunteers to help with this project.

We encourage our members and friends to interact with God through prayer.  There is an active email and phone prayer chain, and a list of prayer concerns each week in our bulletin.

Giving is part of our call, so we practice generosity - giving through special offerings to the larger mission of the church, to special projects like the food pantry, and to the mission of this church to help people think about their faith, about who God is, and about what it looks like to be people who live to do good in this world.
